Lahore Police demolished the reception camp of People’s Party.

In Lahore, the police dismantled the reception camp of the People’s Party situated at Charing Cross. Party workers protested against what they deemed as unwarranted police action, chanting slogans such as “police violence is unacceptable” and “Bhutto lives on.”

Reportedly, the People’s Party had established a camp at Lahore’s Charing Cross, but the police intervened, citing security concerns, and tore it down. As the camp was demolished, party workers voiced their dissent, accusing the police of using excessive force.

Following the incident, local leaders convened a press conference, attended by figures including Aziz Malik, Aamir Naseer Butt, Naseer Ahmed, Shahid Abbas Advocate, Rao Khalid Advocate, Arif Khan, Sadaqat Sherwani, Mohsin Malhi, Yasir Bara, Saqib Butt, Mansoor Kataria, Rao Shujaat, and Noni Meher. During the conference, Aslam Gul, a prominent leader, condemned the actions of the SSP operation, alleging that they unjustly prevented the camp’s setup under the guise of security concerns. Gul emphasized that the camp was intended to celebrate the President’s victory in the state elections.

Expressing frustration, Gul highlighted the heavy police presence in the area throughout the day and called upon the Chief Secretary and IG to promptly address what he described as police brutality. Acting DIG Operations’ purported threat to escalate the situation was also denounced by Gul, who urged for immediate intervention to prevent further unrest.
