Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Manqoosh has been suspended by the Prime Minister following her meeting with the Israeli counterpart, as reported by international media.
The Presidential Council has requested an explanation regarding the encounter with the Israeli Foreign Minister, leading to the initiation of an investigative process against Manqoosh by the Ministry of Justice’s commission.
The Israeli Foreign Minister acknowledged a discreet rendezvous with the Libyan counterpart in Italy the previous week. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Libya released a statement asserting that Foreign Minister Najla Manqoosh disavowed the meeting with Israeli representatives, emphasizing its non-official nature. The Libyan statement also denounced Israel’s attempt to portray the encounter as a formal negotiation, reaffirming Libya’s stance of not engaging in normalized relations with Israel.
