In Islamabad, a new court heard the case regarding the marriage between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, issuing notices to both parties involved.
The appeals against the sentence of PTI’s founder chairman and Bushra Bibi were presented before Additional and Sessions Judge Afzal Majuka at the District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad. Representing PTI, lawyers Usman Riaz Gul and Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry were present, while there was no representation for the complainant, Khawar Manika. The court postponed the hearing until the complainant’s counsel appears.
During arguments, lawyer Niazullah Niazi suggested that the court could decide both petitions together. However, PTI’s founder submitted the application separately. Judge Afzal Majoka noted that an accused had requested an early hearing, and thus the court had to consider this. The application needed an attached affidavit, and no party had been named in it.
The lawyer mentioned that the case was initially reserved for judgment in a different court but got transferred. Additionally, PTI’s founder applied for an early hearing and suspension of sentence, which required an affidavit to be filed along with the application.
The court, issuing notices to the parties again, adjourned the hearing until June 11 concerning the appeals regarding the punishment in the Iddat Nikah case and the appeals for suspension of sentence.
