Maryam Aurangzeb appears in Anti-Terrorism Court, arrest warrant cancelled

In an Anti-Terrorism Court session, the warrant for Maryam Aurangzeb’s arrest was revoked. The case, involving her alleged provocative speech, dates back to 2022 when the Green Town police registered it. Maryam Aurangzeb appeared before Judge Abhar Gul, prompting the court to request the written judgment from the Islamabad High Court concerning her co-accused. Consequently, her arrest warrant was canceled after her appearance, and the case hearing was adjourned until January 6.

Speaking to the media afterward, the PML-N leader stated, “I, Maryam Aurangzeb, appeared in the Anti-Terrorism Court today – being labeled a terrorist. This case emerged when we warned of Imran Khan’s imminent threat to the state. Ironically, those who fabricate terrorism charges are themselves accused – evident from the May 9 incident involving a 190 million pound heist, the country’s largest.”

Highlighting instances, she criticized the system, citing Nawaz Sharif’s dismissal for not accepting a salary from his son and attributing economic downfall to their pilfering. Addressing controversies such as the Jinnah House attack, she stressed accountability. Additionally, she accused the PTI Chairman of financial misconduct, labeling the ruling party as brazen thieves engaging in criminal activities.

Referring to the “London Plan,” she connected it to sensitive incidents, mentioning graves dug at D Chowk. Despite court rulings in Nawaz Sharif’s favor, she emphasized his ongoing legal battles, noting the Islamabad High Court’s exoneration of corruption charges. She spoke about the desecration of martyrs’ memorials and criticized playing games with crucial issues.

Expressing confidence in Nawaz Sharif’s future, she predicted his fourth term as Prime Minister and the restoration of economic stability akin to 2017. Addressing the rampant unemployment among the youth, she blamed the PTI Chairman. Finally, she affirmed the people’s support for Nawaz Sharif in the upcoming elections on February 8.
