Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has stated that those responsible for the events of May 9 have confessed to planning and facilitating the incidents. In her remarks, she criticized the PTI party, describing it as an anarchic group intent on causing harm to the state through disorderly actions. She claimed that Zaman Park served as a training ground for terrorists, where individuals were taught to make petrol bombs and launch attacks against the state. She also alleged that a planned “four-month leg cast drama” was part of the events on May 9, which included attacks on over 200 military installations, burning of Air Force planes, destruction of the corps commander’s residence, and desecration of martyr memorials.
Maryam Nawaz further accused this group of conspiring to lead Pakistan to default, writing letters to the IMF, waving ciphers, and defiling martyr memorials. She emphasized that, given the evidence and proof, strict action must be taken against this “evil, anarchic group” in accordance with the constitution and law. She also referenced past actions by this group, including alienating friendly nations, slandering leadership, and undermining CPEC and China. Additionally, she recalled their previous violent acts in 2014, such as attacking Parliament, PTV, the Prime Minister’s House, beheading policemen, defiling the Supreme Court, and digging graves in D Chowk.
