Bhakkar: Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has expressed a willingness to consider unity with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
During his media address in Bhakkar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that the government does not play a role in elections; instead, it is the responsibility of the Election Commission. He mentioned that actual unity with PTI can only be assessed once they engage in direct discussions, highlighting the importance of adhering to the constitution.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman questioned the military’s involvement in elections and governance, advocating for a political government and the liberation of the bureaucracy for the effective administration of the country.
The JUI chief pointed out that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, his opponents were given positions, and despite his party’s strong presence, they were defeated through rigging. He clarified that his party’s narrative should not be conflated with that of PTI.
He criticized the people of Punjab, calling them the most mentally backward with no significant political role, and highlighted the plight of farmers during the wheat crisis, accusing the same people who received their votes of neglecting them.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that they were defeated because they refused to be tools of the agencies. He criticized the collaboration between the international and local establishments in forming governments and insisted that they would not succumb to the establishment’s impositions. He questioned why one institution monopolizes power in the country despite the presence of multiple institutions and the constitution, noting that the media remains confused between two parties.
