In Lahore, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, donned a police uniform, emphasizing the need to demonstrate her capabilities to ascend to her position. Addressing the passing out ceremony of lady constables at the Police Training College Chohang, she commended the alertness and talent exhibited by the female police recruits. She instructed the Inspector General of Punjab to augment the number of women police officers, aiming for a substantial increase from the current 7,000 to eventually surpass 50%.
Highlighting the dedication of women, she praised their ability to juggle multiple roles as mothers, daughters, sisters, and professionals, often performing tasks with superhuman efficiency. She expressed satisfaction at a young woman receiving the prestigious Sword of Honor at the ceremony.
Reflecting on her own experience, Sharif acknowledged the weight of responsibility accompanying both wearing the police uniform and holding the position of Chief Minister. She recounted the challenges she faced in reaching her current role, describing it as navigating through a “river of fire.” Additionally, she shared the joy of seeing pride in her father’s eyes upon informing him of her daily endeavors.
