Karachi: Following a meeting with NEPRA Chairman in Islamabad, members of the National Assembly from Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) met with NEPRA’s Adviser Abed Hussain in Karachi as per his instructions.
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the issues of unannounced load shedding, overbilling, and other problems affecting the area. They emphasized that unannounced load shedding should be stopped immediately and that no load shedding should occur between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The MQM-P delegation, which included Dr. Arshad Vihra, Amir Moin Pirzada, and Sofia Saeed, criticized K Electric for subjecting the public to severe hardship during an intense heatwave by not reducing load shedding. They accused K Electric of extreme stubbornness and indifference, calling it sheer cruelty and abuse.
The delegation demanded that NEPRA reduce the hours of load shedding, eliminate unannounced load shedding, and ensure no load shedding occurs from 12:00 pm to 8:00 am. They also urged NEPRA to improve procedures for addressing overbilling complaints promptly to resolve the public’s issues more efficiently. NEPRA’s Adviser agreed to all the suggestions and assured that solutions would be implemented.
