MQM Pakistan followed the path of MQM London, Chief Minister Sindh

Karachi: Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, has stated that MQM Pakistan has followed the same path as MQM London.

During a press conference held alongside Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and former provincial ministers, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed gratitude that the assembly has successfully completed its term. He mentioned his commitment to serving as Chief Minister until the new Caretaker Chief Minister takes over. In case of agreement between the opposition and their party, a new caretaker Chief Minister will be appointed; otherwise, the matter will be referred to the Election Commission.

Murad Ali Shah conveyed his appreciation to his party’s leadership for entrusting him with the role of Chief Minister for five years. He acknowledged the challenges faced during this period, especially in the context of the changing political landscape. The Chief Minister reflected on his interactions with various prime ministers and their visits to Karachi, highlighting the varying degrees of inclusion and engagement.

He remarked on the impact of disruptive elements on the political environment, likening them to “dirty eggs” that can spoil the larger context. He recalled a time when the then prime minister stated that Karachi was not a concern for the government, which led to difficulties. Murad Ali Shah highlighted the resilience of his assembly members and the determination to continue governing, even in challenging circumstances.

Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Murad Ali Shah emphasized the difficult decisions taken based on medical advice and the subsequent acceptance of those decisions by critics. He commended Sindh’s efforts in managing the pandemic successfully and preventing further loss of life.

The Chief Minister discussed the adverse effects of floods in Sindh and the collaborative efforts made by various political parties to address the situation and provide relief. He underscored his dedication to improving the state of infrastructure and roads, and the financial support received from international organizations.

Murad Ali Shah expressed pride in Sindh’s accomplishments under his leadership, including effective flood management, agricultural growth, and infrastructure development. He positioned the province’s achievements as surpassing those of other regions and political entities.

He mentioned his commitment to addressing unemployment and his government’s efforts in that regard. He acknowledged the limitations imposed by the Election Commission during local elections and emphasized the importance of merit-based recruitment, alluding to MQM Pakistan’s actions in this context.

Murad Ali Shah discussed his perspective on upcoming elections, potential alliances, and the delimitation process for constituencies. He concluded by reaffirming his dedication to politics and his desire for a peaceful resolution to political matters in the best interest of the province.
