In Karachi, a member of MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) who had been missing for six years was found and brought before the Sindh High Court. The High Court issued an order to reinstate Muhammad Javed Khan’s identity card.
During the proceedings led by Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto and a two-member bench, MQM activist Muhammad Javed Khan, who had been missing for six years, reappeared.
Justice Nimatullah Phalphotu asked Javed Khan about his whereabouts during this time and who was responsible for his disappearance. Javed Khan replied that he was unaware of the details.
Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto suggested that he should share any information he had, as it might help others. He hinted at the possibility of involvement by a certain agency.
Mohammad Javed Khan maintained that he had no knowledge, as he had been blindfolded throughout his ordeal.
Justice Nimatullah Phalphoto questioned the prolonged period of his blindfolded captivity, asking where he had been kept.
Javed explained that he had been associated with MQM and was taken due to political reasons. He revealed that he was eventually released after paying a ransom of 500 rupees.
The lawyer representing the petitioner argued that the citizen’s identity card had been blocked and requested its restoration, along with reinstatement in his job.
The government advocate countered that the request couldn’t include identity card restoration or job reinstatement.
The court inquired why these actions couldn’t be taken, considering the agency’s involvement and the lengthy duration of the incident.
As a result, the court ordered the restoration of Mohammad Javed Khan’s identity card and concluded the recovery petition.
