NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg’s tenure extended

Brussels: NATO, a 31-nation military alliance, has decided to keep NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in office for another year.

According to international media reports, Stoltenberg said on a social media website that NATO I am delighted and proud of the Alliance’s decision to retain my position as Secretary-General until October 1, 2024.

This alliance between Europe and North America has ensured our freedom and security for nearly 75 years, he said.

In today’s dangerous world, our alliance is more important than ever. Stoltenberg, the former prime minister of Norway, has held the top post of NATO since 2014. His term was due to expire last year but was extended in February 2022 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
