
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N), has expressed deep sorrow and regret regarding the blast in Bajaur.
Taking to Twitter, Nawaz Sharif condemned the incident, deeming it as profoundly tragic. He offered prayers to Allah Almighty for patience to be bestowed upon the bereaved families and a swift recovery for the injured. Additionally, he extended his heartfelt condolences to his brother Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the workers affected by the tragedy.
The explosion occurred during a workers’ convention of Jamiat Ulema Islam in Khar, the capital of Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident resulted in the unfortunate loss of 41 lives, including Geo News cameraman Sami, and left over 200 others injured, with many in critical condition. Numerous local officials of Jamiat Ulema Islam, including Amir Ziaullah Jan of Tehsil Khar and Tehsil Navagai, and General Secretary Hamidullah Haqqani, also lost their lives in the blast.
