In Lahore, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been unanimously elected as the president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
During a meeting of the General Council of the party, Chief Election Commissioner Rana Sanaullah declared Nawaz Sharif’s unopposed election.
Sanaullah mentioned that Nawaz Sharif was the sole candidate who submitted nomination papers, which were subsequently approved.
A resolution to elect Sharif as the president was presented and approved by the General Council amidst loud applause and slogans. The event was also broadcasted on PTV.
Party leader Ahsan Iqbal proposed several resolutions during the meeting, all of which received majority approval. The resolutions stated that in 2017, Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N leadership were ousted from power and Nawaz Sharif was removed from the party presidency as part of a conspiracy.
The resolutions called for the perpetrators of this conspiracy to be brought to justice and expressed full confidence in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.
