In Murree, the leader of the Muslim League (N), Mian Nawaz Sharif, asserted that the judge who later became Chief Justice resigned due to misconduct, emphasizing that a proverbial “straw in the beard of a thief” led to his disqualification.
Speaking at a public gathering at Murree GPO Chowk, Nawaz Sharif reminisced about his tenure as the chief minister in 1985 when the first picturesque road in Pakistan was constructed. Expressing regret over the state of the country after his departure, he cited accomplishments during his prime ministership, including the elimination of load shedding, reduction of electricity costs, control of inflation, development of motorways, and affordability of essential commodities.
Questioning the decision to remove him from office when conditions were favorable, Nawaz Sharif pointed out that he had improved various aspects of the country. Reflecting on his own disqualification and the subsequent resignation of the judge who ousted him, he attributed it to divine intervention.
Nawaz Sharif raised concerns about the promises made by his successor, questioning the whereabouts of the pledged one crore jobs, the Billion Tree project, and the commitment to build five million houses. He asserted that the real support of the youth and the nation is with him, despite claims to the contrary.
Addressing local development in Murree, Nawaz Sharif called for the construction of hospitals, university campuses, Danish schools, roads, and motorways. He expressed a desire for a train connection from Pindi to Murree, extending to Muzaffarabad and Kashmir.
On the occasion of Kashmir Day, Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to standing with the oppressed Kashmiri brothers, emphasizing ongoing support for their cause.
