In Lahore, the High Court has taken action against officials in the case of Parvez Elahi, with bailable arrest warrants issued for the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad and non-bailable arrest warrants issued for the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad due to their failure to produce Parvez Elahi as ordered by the court.
Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf noted that despite the issuance of bailable warrants, the IG of Islamabad did not appear in court. Consequently, the court issued a contempt of court notice to the relevant Superintendent of Police (SP) for failing to execute the bailable arrest warrant.
Meanwhile, the District Police Officer (DPO) of Attock and the Chief Police Officer (CPO) of Rawalpindi appeared in court, where the judge expressed concern about them neglecting their official duties to attend court proceedings for the second time. The judge emphasized that they should not forget about their respective careers.
The court also expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of the Superintendent of Jail in Attock and subsequently issued a bailable arrest warrant for this official.
However, the DPO of Attock submitted a response to the show cause notice, leading the court to withdraw the show cause notice that had been issued against both the DPO of Attock and the CPO of Rawalpindi.
