The federal government has issued a notification of 35 percent increase in the salaries of government employees announced in the budget 2023-24 in the form of ad hoc relief, transport, deputation, additional charge, special pay and current search allowance.
According to the details, the government has increased the salaries of government employees by 23 to 35 percent in terms of ad hoc relief allowance, orderly allowance, conveyance allowance for disabled persons, deputation allowance, additional charge allowance and special pay, current charge allowance has also been increased.
While the conveyance allowance of disabled persons has been increased by 100% and the orderly allowance has been increased from 17,500 rupees to 25,000 rupees per month. According to the copy of the notification of the Ministry of Finance, the basic pay of employees in grades 1 to 16 has been increased by 35 percent on account of ad hoc relief allowance and the salaries of officers in grades 17 to 22 have been increased by 30 percent on account of ad hoc relief allowance.
Ad Hoc Relief Allowance as per the notification issued Contract employees, Contingent Pay employees will also get Ad Hoc Relief Allowance to all federal government employees, armed forces personnel, civil armed forces and civil servants drawing salary from defense estimates, leave and LPR.
This ad-hoc relief allowance will also be available during this period, however, this allowance will not be available on extraordinary leave. According to the notification, the pay hike has been implemented from July 1, 2023 and income tax will be applicable on the ad hoc relief allowance received by the employees.
According to the notification, this allowance will not be counted for calculation of pension, gratuity and house rent. This allowance will not be given even during deputation of employees abroad, on return, the allowance will start on appointment in the departments. Ad hoc relief allowance will be included in the personal pay of the employees.
Ministries and divisions should provide ad hoc relief allowance to employees from their allocated budget While no supplementary grants will be provided to ministries and divisions for payment of ad hoc relief allowance, apart from this, the government has increased the orderly allowance of BPS 20 to BPS 22 officers, the orderly allowance is Rs 17500.
