The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination has released a notification nominating Mohsin Naqvi as a member of the PCB Board of Governors in Islamabad.
Acting on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief Minister Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi replaces former Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf in the Board of Governors, as per Article Ten One D of PCB Constitution 2014. The notification, issued by the inter-provincial coordination of the Cricket Board on the Prime Minister’s instructions, follows the resignation of former PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf on January 20, approved on January 22. Mohsin Naqvi’s nomination is effective from the same day.
In line with tradition, Mohsin Naqvi, nominated by the Prime Minister, is expected to assume the role of the new head of the Cricket Board for the next three years. The remaining members of the Board of Governors, which will include representatives from four departments and four regions, will be formally announced by PCB Election Commissioner Shah Khawar. The election process will commence, and after the general elections on February 8, a special meeting of the Board of Governors will be convened by PCB Election Commissioner Shah Khawar to unanimously appoint the new PCB chairman. Following the general elections, Mohsin Naqvi, no longer serving as the caretaker chief minister, will be constitutionally eligible to assume the role of PCB chief.
