Pakhtunkhwa; Order not to put names of PTI members of assembly in schedule four.

Govt to provide compensation to families of missing persons for more than 5 years, Peshawar High Court

In Peshawar, the High Court has issued orders to exclude the names of PTI MLAs from Schedule IV.

Justice Waqar Ahmed, presiding over the Peshawar High Court, addressed petitions challenging the suggestion to place former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members in Schedule Four. The court directed the provincial government to refrain from any actions against the petitioners during the proceedings.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Syed Sikander Hayat Shah, argued that the recommendation to list ex-assembly members in Schedule Four poses undue hardship. The petitioner, a former Member of Parliament, has been a victim of terrorism.

AAG Daniyal Chamkani informed the court that while the District Intelligence Coordination Committee proposed their inclusion, these former members’ names haven’t been added yet.

Subsequently, the court restrained the provincial government from taking any action against the petitioners and requested a response from the government by January 23.

Notably, the recommendation suggests adding former Speaker Asad Qaiser, ex-members Amjad Ali, Gul Zafar, Iftikhar Mashwani, Mian Sharaf Ali, Abdul Salam, Zahir Shah, Fazal Hakeem, and others to Schedule Four.
