Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has been placed under detention in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi issued an order for his detention for a period of 15 days. This action follows his alleged involvement in the GHQ gate attack on May 9. Authorities express concerns that his release could escalate the existing law and order situation.
The detention order, based on a recommendation from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sadar, suggests a 45-day detention. The District Intelligence Committee concurs with the assessment provided by the police and other law enforcement agencies.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been detained for a 15-day period, with the provision for him to appeal this decision.
