
KARACHI: The President of the Central Organization of Trade Unions of Pakistan, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, has said that there will be no negotiations with the government and there will be every opportunity for a successful nationwide shutter-down strike on August 28.
While holding a press conference at the Karachi Press Club along with the officials of all trade organizations of Karachi, the President of the Central Association of Trade Unions, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, said that the government’s soft consolations and false claims cannot please the businessmen.
He said that the shutter down strike will be to save the business and economy, the strike will be successful for the protection of businessmen across the country and the improvement of the economy.
Kashif Chaudhry said that traders are committed to grow the country’s economy and fight the tyranny of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), until the notification to end the trader-friendly scheme is issued. The strike will not end and negotiations will not be held.
He said that the strike will not end until the notification to end the trader-friendly scheme is issued, a few people with government privileges are pretending to make a minor change in the SRO of the trader-friendly scheme.
He said that we want to warn them that the privileged people of the government will have to eat, the traders will continue to take their rights with unity and consensus.
Kashif Chaudhry said that there will be no negotiations until the notification of withdrawal of trader-friendly scheme, end of withholding tax and reduction of electricity and gas prices, if the contracts of IPPs are not revised. The strike will continue.
He said that there is no question of negotiating with puppets and we will not negotiate with anyone. If our demands are not accepted, there will be no negotiations.
He said that there is no division among the traders, there is no place in the ranks of the traders for the so-called privileged people who spread such false propaganda.
Kashif Chaudhry said that the government has already carried out the funeral of the economy and now they will not allow the economic killing of businessmen.
He said that the success of the August 28 nationwide shutter down strike of traders has scared the rulers, traders pay the highest taxes in the country and the tax payer is not afraid of anyone.
He said that if any action is taken against the traders, the government will be responsible for the reaction.
Kashif Chaudhry said that K-Electronics is squeezing the blood of the people of Karachi, the city that gives 64% of the country’s revenue has been turned into a garbage dump by incompetents.
He said that the businessmen and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh have already announced the success of the shutter down strike, they will also go to Balochistan and meet the business leaders and finalize the action plan.
On this occasion, other business leaders Sheikh Habib, Atiq Mir, Hakeem Shah, Rashid Khan, Rana Muhammad Akram, Qais Mansoor Sheikh, Asif Gulfam, Aslam Bhatti, Asim Qureshi, Waqar Hamid Memon, Kamran Memon, Abdul Rahim Agha, Lala Farqan, Meraj Ahmed. Khan, Shakir Umar Gujjar, Javed Siddiqui, Rashid Ali Khan, Sheikh Khalid Noor, Javed Siddiqui, Mehboob Azam, Hussain Qureshi, Abdullah Batra and a large number of business leaders were also present.
