
Pakistani filmmaker Haya Fatima Iqbal, renowned for her previous Academy Award and two Emmy Awards, has received yet another Emmy Awards nomination for her latest film ‘As Far They Can Run.’ The short documentary focuses on the lives of children in Mirpurkhas and nearby regions who face mental disabilities but are empowered through athletic training.
Haya Fatima Iqbal expressed her delight about the nomination on her Instagram account, sharing that the film sheds light on the perseverance of these children and their coaches. The film aims to showcase their hard work and achievements to the world, allowing these remarkable children to soar to greater heights.
One of the film’s featured individuals, Sana Kapri, participated in the Special Olympics held in Berlin the previous month, adding even more significance to the documentary’s narrative. The film also highlights the stories of Ghulam and Sajawal, who, due to their mental disabilities, face challenges being accepted by their own families and live under difficult circumstances.
Haya Iqbal’s dedication to documentary filmmaking has brought accolades to Pakistan, and ‘As Far They Can Run’ now holds a well-deserved place among the nominees for the prestigious Best Documentary Award at the Emmy Awards.
