
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is facing economic problems due to climate change, last year it also faced devastating floods due to this reason.
Addressing the summit on the new global financial agreement held in Paris, the Prime Minister said that due to climate change, Pakistan faced catastrophic floods last year, which completely destroyed two million houses while 3.3 million people were displaced and Crops standing on thousands of acres were destroyed, he said that due to climate change, Pakistan is facing economic difficulties.
The Secretary General of the United Nations visited the flood affected areas and saw the destruction with his own eyes. The Prime Minister said that the people of Pakistan faced the flood disaster very bravely.
Shahbaz Sharif said that crores of dollars have been spent for the rehabilitation of the flood victims. The Prime Minister urged the world to formulate a policy for fair distribution of resources.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also held meetings with world leaders and personalities in which bilateral relations and climate change faced by Pakistan were discussed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with US President’s Special Envoy for Environment and former Secretary of State John Kerry, in which both the leaders expressed their best wishes for each other.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the priorities of John Kerry and the American government on the issue of environment and said that environmental issues are a common problem of the world that requires joint strategies and efforts.
Appointing a special representative of The Prime Minister said that the environmental problems are affecting the development and growth rate of developing countries especially, the catastrophic floods in 2022 have made the problems more difficult in severe economic difficulties.
Play a special role in helping developing countries overcome the negative impact of environmental problems on growth. Shehbaz Sharif said that it is important to implement the commitments to provide resources after the establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund in COP 27, the Paris summit for a new global financial agreement is a message of hope for developing countries, developing countries.
