PESHAWAR: The High Court has summoned the Election Commission in response to a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging non-compliance with a court order to issue the party’s certificate on its website.
The PTI lodged a contempt of court petition regarding the Election Commission’s failure to release the party certificate online, despite a court directive. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Waqar Ahmed of the Peshawar High Court, presided over the hearing. Advocates Qazi Anwar and Shah Faisal Ilyas presented arguments during the proceedings.
Subsequently, the court issued a notice regarding PTI’s contempt of court petition against the Election Commission and requested a response from the Election Commission by the next hearing. The Election Commission has been directed to submit its reply by January 16.
