In Peshawar, the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court resolved a long-standing dispute between a married couple. The couple had been embroiled in a legal battle for five years.
During the proceedings in the Fazil Bench, the wife, hailing from Swabi, stated that a court order had awarded her three tolas of gold and a monthly allowance of 5,000 rupees. However, the husband’s lawyer argued that this ruling was unlawful and excessive.
The Chief Justice summoned the couple and questioned them about the reasons for their ongoing conflict. He expressed his concern that they had spent five years in litigation, causing distress for themselves. The husband explained that he earned 800 rupees daily and supported his children and parents, while his wife insisted on receiving additional separate funds. The Chief Justice emphasized that the husband was responsible for the family’s financial well-being.
The wife contended that her needs were neglected, and she had been compelled to seek financial assistance from her parents due to her husband’s demands.
The Chief Justice urged the couple to reconcile, emphasizing the beauty of the marital bond and its significance in society, especially amidst inflation and social tensions. The court mediated a resolution, and the couple pledged to live harmoniously. The husband agreed to provide a separate monthly allowance to his wife for her daily expenses.
The Chief Justice highlighted the court’s role in preserving households, prioritizing the stability of families, and safeguarding the well-being of children.
Subsequently, the court escorted the couple to the husband’s home and emphasized that he should not mistreat his wife or make unreasonable demands.
