Govt to provide compensation to families of missing persons for more than 5 years, Peshawar High Court

The court in Peshawar has issued notices to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the KP Assembly in response to a contempt of court petition concerning the failure to take oath on specific seats.

A 2-member bench, including Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Syed Arshad Ali of the Peshawar High Court, heard the petitions regarding the non-swearing-in of members on certain seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The court has summoned the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly and requested their response at the upcoming hearing. The petitioner argues that despite court orders mandating the oath-taking by elected members on specific seats, the oath was not administered. Allegations have been made against the Speaker and Deputy Speaker for violating court directives, prompting calls for contempt of court action against them.
