In Islamabad, Senator Sadia Abbasi from the Muslim League (N) has called for the release of production orders for PTI senators.
She raised questions about why Parvez Elahi had been arrested 20 times and suggested that his name should be recognized in the Guinness Book of Records.
During a Senate meeting chaired by Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Senator Sadia Abbasi emphasized the need to allocate funds for the welfare of the people by reducing unnecessary expenses. She proposed a detailed examination of all ministries and their officials’ roles, salaries, and benefits, highlighting the burden on the national treasury. She also stressed the importance of identifying shortcomings and implementing necessary reforms.
The Chairman of the Senate instructed the government to provide information related to the ministries.
Senator Sadia Abbasi further advocated for the issuance of production orders for detained parliamentarians, including Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, and others. She argued that it is their constitutional right to obtain bail and participate in parliamentary proceedings as elected representatives of the people.
Sadia Abbasi also mentioned Pervez Elahi’s frequent arrests and suggested that his situation should be clarified, including the specific charges against him. She expressed concern for his health due to repeated incarcerations.
Additionally, she emphasized the importance of addressing the prolonged detention of female parliamentarians and highlighted the suffering and abuses faced by her own party. She questioned whether Parvez Elahi leaving his political party would resolve these issues and mentioned Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to avoiding cruelty and immorality in politics.
