In Lucky Marwat, a confrontation between protestors and the police resulted in one fatality and four injuries. According to reports from News,
the incident occurred in the Dara Pizo area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s city of Lucky Marwat. The clash between civilians and the police arose from an ongoing protest on the Indus Highway, led by individuals from Wanda Jogi. The protest, which began late at night, was in response to the arrest of fellow protesters, stemming from a dispute involving the Lucky Cement Factory.
Amidst the tense situation, the police resorted to firing upon the demonstrators following a heated altercation. As a consequence of the police action, one person tragically lost their life, prompting the enraged crowd to place the deceased’s body outside the factory premises as a sign of protest. This act was accompanied by the renewed closure of the Peshawar Karachi Indus Highway, causing disruption to all traffic.
In a contrasting narrative, the police justified their use of force by asserting that they were fired upon by the protestors. In purported self-defense, the police responded by firing warning shots into the air.
