An out-of-court settlement appears likely in the case concerning the transfer of Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala Sub Jail to Adiala Jail, as her lawyer, Usman Riaz Gill, was once again absent from court proceedings today. Justice Hasan Aurangzeb expressed frustration, stating that the parties seem to be politicizing the issue within the court.
The State Council informed the court that both parties have requested additional time for ongoing discussions, expressing optimism about reaching an agreement soon. However, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb questioned the notion of an agreement, to which the State Council clarified that discussions are ongoing and details cannot be shared until finalized.
Justice Hasan Aurangzeb voiced concerns about the case’s pending status, criticizing the tendency of parties to file writs when they anticipate relief, only to delay proceedings. He also admonished the State Council, remarking on their conduct.
Lawyer Khalid Chaudhry explained Usman Gill’s absence, citing his presence in the District Court for the Iddat Nikah case. However, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb found no valid reason for adjourning the hearing, issuing a final warning for Gill to appear and present arguments at the next session.
The court consequently adjourned the hearing until May 2nd.
