
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that true success lies not in borrowing but in achieving financial independence.
He expressed contentment regarding the receipt of the final financial installment from the IMF, amounting to 1.1 billion dollars, stating that it would contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economic stability. He affirmed his commitment to wholeheartedly address economic challenges and foster development in the country, viewing this as an opportunity bestowed by Allah to enhance the economy.
Reflecting on past achievements, he noted the completion of the IMF program under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif in 2016 and highlighted the significance of the current Second Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) program. This program, undertaken during his 16-month tenure, was crucial in averting default and ensuring Pakistan’s financial stability. The Prime Minister acknowledged the necessity of tough decisions made for economic security, assuring that their positive outcomes would soon manifest.
He extended appreciation to the entire economic team, including Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, for their dedicated efforts. Furthermore, he expressed gratitude towards the IMF Managing Director for their support during challenging times.
