KARACHI: Muhammad Farooq, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami, has submitted a privilege motion against K-Electric CEO Monis Alvi in the Sindh Assembly.
Speaking to the media at the Sindh Assembly Media Corner, Farooq stated that during a meeting with K-Electric on Friday, the company’s attitude towards the assembly members was disgraceful. He mentioned that Monis Alvi’s behavior towards the ministers was also poor, prompting the submission of the privilege motion.
Farooq criticized K-Electric, saying that the company was working against the people and likened their actions to those of the East India Company. He reported that when he confronted K-Electric, he was told it was not a charity. Farooq stated that he informed K-Electric that they should not speak disrespectfully to the MPs and emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami would not tolerate such behavior. He accused K-Electric of insulting the entire city of Karachi.
Farooq further claimed that Monis Alvi declared Jamaat-e-Islami an enemy and violated his privileges as an assembly member by refusing to adhere to the laws. He called for strict disciplinary action to be taken through the formation of a special committee of the Sindh Assembly
