The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has compiled a set of initiatives and nominations awaiting approval from the Prime Minister.
Recently, the government intervened, halting PCB’s execution of various bids, including PSL media rights, and requested that crucial decisions be subject to the Prime Minister’s endorsement. This directive limits the management committee’s authority to daily operations and raises concerns about previous decisions. Directors on the board have been instructed to promptly disclose their plans for approval. The PCB has assembled a comprehensive roster of ongoing and forthcoming major projects, with plans to submit it soon, citing the imminent PSL event.
Urgency surrounds the sale of media rights to secure adequate funding swiftly. Additionally, requests for permission have been lodged for the T-Ten League and past exhibition matches. The board aims to ink a 2-3 year agreement with team director Muhammad Hafeez. Likewise, the board seeks the patron’s endorsement to solidify Wahab Riaz’s appointment as Chief Selector. Other key appointments have been detailed, relegating minor appointments to routine affairs.
The project breakdown includes cost analysis, encompassing officials’ salaries. Any contested appointment will face potential termination. This approach ensures continuity, binding new authorities to honor the approved projects and appointments sanctioned by the patron in case of a board transition
