PTI withdrew the contempt of court case against the Election Commission.

Govt to provide compensation to families of missing persons for more than 5 years, Peshawar High Court

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has withdrawn a contempt petition against the Election Commission in the Peshawar High Court.

The case, which involved allegations of non-compliance with the High Court’s decision on intra-party elections and electoral symbols, had been adjourned until January 16 in the previous hearing.

In the initial petition, PTI had accused the Election Commission of not implementing the Peshawar High Court’s directives, particularly regarding the issuance of a certificate to PTI. The party claimed that despite court orders, obstacles were being created by other parties, impeding PTI’s general elections. PTI argued that such actions by the Election Commission amounted to contempt of court.

It is worth noting that on the same day, PTI also withdrew a request for a level playing field that had been filed in the Supreme Court.
