Doha: Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have announced the reopening of embassies in each other’s countries after six years of diplomatic tension.
According to foreign media, in a statement issued by Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi and Qatari embassies and the UAE embassy in Doha have been announced to resume operations.
In 2017, the United Arab Emirates joined Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt in boycotting and blackouting Qatar over Qatar’s alleged support for terrorist groups.
The boycott of Qatar was officially announced to end in January 2021. Following the end of the boycott, the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates visited Qatar and Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup.
