In Karachi, the Sindh government has sanctioned a cash assistance program for individuals earning less than Rs 34,000 per month during Ramadan.
Led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, a meeting was convened to address Ramadan price control, attended by various officials including the Mayor, Chief Secretary, and police authorities.
A Ramadan relief package of Rs 22.5 billion has been approved, aiming to provide Rs 5,000 cash assistance to approximately 45 lakh families in Sindh with incomes at or below Rs 32,000 per month. This initiative seeks to alleviate financial strain during the holy month.
To curb inflation, Chief Minister Shah has instructed a crackdown on hoarders and profiteers, starting with Karachi and extending to other divisions of the province. The government has also mandated fixed prices for essential commodities and established a complaint cell at the Chief Minister House for addressing consumer concerns.
Moreover, the Sindh Zakat Department will provide Rs 14,000 to 110,000 needy families, while ensuring uninterrupted power supply during Suhr and Iftar through collaboration with utility companies such as K Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO.
