Recovery case Parvez Elahi; Issuance of Contempt of Court Notice to Chief Commissioner Islamabad.

The Lahore High Court has issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad for alleged contempt of court in connection with the Parvez Elahi recovery case.

During a recent hearing at the Lahore High Court regarding the recovery of Parvez Elahi and a contempt petition, the lawyer representing Parvez Elahi argued that the arrest of Parvez Elahi had violated a court order. The court had previously issued an order explicitly prohibiting the arrest of Parvez Elahi in any case.

In response to these claims, Justice Mirza Waqqas Rauf stated that the only recourse now would be to pursue a contempt of court action against the responsible officers. He also pointed out that the Islamabad High Court holds jurisdiction over the First Information Report (FIR) related to the case, and matters concerning contempt of court could be addressed in the Lahore High Court. Justice Rauf expressed concern over the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad’s absence from the proceedings, emphasizing that they should have appeared before this court.

Ultimately, the Lahore High Court rejected Parvez Elahi’s recovery request as ineffective and proceeded to issue a show-cause notice to the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad for their failure to appear in court.
