Request for extension of disqualification period; NAB could not get immediate relief.

Parliament has ended corruption cases, when consciousness comes, it will be too late, Islamabad High Court

The Islamabad High Court denied immediate relief to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a recent hearing.

During the session, an appeal challenging the reduction of a person’s 10-year disqualification—originally handed down by NAB—to 5 years was addressed. Senior Special Prosecutor NAB, Muhammad Rafi, was present at the hearing.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani questioned the NAB prosecutor about the filing of the miscellaneous application and the appeal’s admissibility without prior notice. The prosecutor mentioned the impending deadline for filing an appeal regarding election nomination papers.

However, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani clarified that the court wasn’t obliged to address this particular issue, indicating that the miscellaneous application would be reviewed alongside the central appeal in the next session.

The Islamabad High Court instructed NAB to schedule the primary appeal for January 4.
