Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmender has revealed that Salman Khan’s Dabangg character was inspired by his 1975 film.
Responding to a user on Twitter, Dharmender said that Salman Khan himself had confessed to him that Chalbal Pandey’s character was inspired by his police character in Prategya.
Dharmender played the role of a policeman in the 1980s film Portugalia, in which he avenges the death of his parents.
His film also starred Hema Malini and Ajith in lead roles and the film is known for its many comic scenes. The 87-year-old actor will next be seen in Roki Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which is directed by Karan Johar and will release in July this year.
