Sanam Javed’s candidacy documents for the Senate have been accepted.

The Election Tribunal in Lahore has issued a written decision approving Sanam Javed’s nomination papers for the Senate, overturning the Election Commission’s rejection.

The tribunal deemed the commission’s decision null and void, allowing Javed to contest the Senate elections.

The tribunal cited that Javed’s husband was unable to declare assets for 2023 due to adverse circumstances. Additionally, the Election Commission’s contention regarding Javed’s identity card clarity was dismissed in light of Supreme Court rulings emphasizing equal rights without gender discrimination.

Javed expressed frustration during an informal conversation with the media, attributing the acceptance of Umar Sarfraz Cheema’s nomination papers, despite his incarceration, to malicious actions by prison authorities aimed at hindering her candidacy.

During an appearance at an anti-terrorism court, Javed thanked the PTI founder for nominating her to the Senate, despite lacking sufficient support. She criticized Maryam Bibi, accusing her of attaining power through rigging and urged her to prioritize public welfare over theatrics. Javed also questioned the legitimacy of awards received by certain individuals, alleging favoritism towards the PML-N family.

Javed highlighted the PTI founder’s efforts in fostering international cooperation and combating negative perceptions against Pakistan. She criticized the allocation of positions, citing the appointment of a Law Minister to a utility store as ludicrous, and questioned the merits of awards received by officials, insinuating bias towards the PML-N.
