The Lahore High Court has sought a response from the Election Commission on the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders against the rejection of nomination papers.
The Lahore High Court has sought a response from the Election Commission yesterday after hearing the petition against the rejection of the nomination papers of PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi from 3 constituencies.
A 3-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi heard the application. The petitioner took the stand that Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s nomination papers were rejected in NA-150, NA-151 and PP-218 constituencies. The Tribunal and the Returning Officer rejected the documents contrary to law.
On the petition of PTI leader Sanam Javed, the court also asked the Election Commission’s lawyer to respond. The Returning Officer and the Tribunal did not properly assess the facts. Declare the decision of the tribunal and the returning officers null and void.
