Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has put forth a resolution at the Senate Secretariat to invalidate a previously passed resolution concerning the Senate’s stance on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Military Courts.
He highlighted that while the Senate backs the Supreme Court’s ruling against military court decisions, the manner in which the resolution was introduced bypassed Senate protocols. The Senate initially passed a resolution in favor of Military Courts, contradicting the Supreme Court’s decision, which advocates for civilian trials.
Asserting the Supreme Court’s role as the guardian of the Constitution, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad emphasized the Court’s directive for civilian trials and the Senate’s alignment with this decision. Consequently, he proposed setting aside the resolution supporting Military Courts and upholding the Supreme Court’s judgment.
