In Islamabad, Senators have strongly criticized the Caretaker Government for presenting a bill in the Senate. Raza Rabbani, a Senator, noted that this is an unprecedented occurrence in the country’s history.
He expressed his concerns during a Senate meeting chaired by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. Caretaker Federal Minister Murtaza Solangi shared his views during the session.
Senator Raza Rabbani raised an attention notice, where he criticized the Caretaker Government for introducing a bill in the Senate. He pointed out that, according to the constitution, the role of the Caretaker Government is limited to essential day-to-day government affairs. The constitution stipulates that the Caretaker Government’s mandate is only for 90 days. Therefore, Rabbani argued that the Caretaker Government does not have the authority to present bills. He questioned the necessity of the Motion Pictures Amendment Bill 2023 being introduced by the Caretaker Government and requested that the Chairman of the Senate remove it from the agenda. He emphasized that such actions should not occur during the Chairman’s tenure.
