In a video message following the PTI core committee meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Vice President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, expressed concerns about the treatment of Imran Khan.
He raised the issue of Imran Khan being held in a jail with C class facilities and emphasized that there are threats to Imran Khan’s life. Shah Mehmood Qureshi urged the Supreme Court to take immediate notice of the situation.
During the meeting, the core committee members were surprised by the manner of Imran Khan’s arrest, as the order was with Islamabad Police, but he was arrested by Punjab Police. They noted that Imran Khan’s lawyers were denied access to him, hindering their ability to prepare an appeal for his release.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also highlighted the lack of medical attention provided to Imran Khan. Although a medical examination was due, he was not taken to the appropriate facilities, and there is no qualified doctor available in Attock Jail, where he is being held. The concern extends to the food provided to him in the jail.
The Vice President of PTI stressed the importance of securing Imran Khan’s basic and constitutional rights and called for the protection and release of the Chairman of PTI as the core committee’s top priority.
