
Karachi: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon has announced that robbers in possession of modern weapons are a serious threat, and the government plans to acquire advanced weaponry to counter them.
Speaking to the media, the senior provincial minister explained that the robbers in Kacha are armed with sophisticated weapons. In response, the Sindh government has requested the federal government to supply modern weapons to equip the police, which are expected to be delivered soon.
Memon mentioned that the police and rangers are conducting joint operations in the Kutch area. Rangers are being deployed wherever necessary.
He further stated that President Asif Ali Zardari has issued directives to combat drug abuse. The government is committed to preventing the spread of drugs in society, particularly in educational institutions where children are being targeted. Serious measures are being taken, resulting in numerous arrests.
The minister emphasized that users of crystal meth and ice pose a significant danger to society, likening them to suicide bombers. The excise and narcotics control departments, along with the police, are actively involved in countermeasures. Additionally, actions are being taken against the gutka mafia and other drug-related activities.
