In Lahore, Shehbaz Sharif, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), asserts that he played a crucial role in steering Pakistan away from bankruptcy.
He expressed that saving the nation was paramount, even if it meant sacrificing political pursuits. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that, if questioned in the presence of Allah, he would affirm his contribution to averting economic collapse.
He recounted his tireless efforts over 16 months to prevent bankruptcy, highlighting the challenges posed by inflation and the rupture of the IMF agreement. Shehbaz Sharif suggested that had the Nawaz Sharif government not been ousted, Pakistan would not be grappling with severe economic difficulties. He also mentioned the damage to diplomatic relations and societal divisions, expressing a commitment to uniting the nation and dispelling hatred.
Looking ahead, Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to resume a political journey on February 8, aiming to address issues that emerged in 2017. He acknowledged past mistakes, urging everyone to learn from them. Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that, unlike previous instances, there would be no conspiracies this time.
Responding to criticism, he clarified that if any bills were withdrawn, it was not his or Nawaz Sharif’s decision. He mentioned the absence of intra-party elections and the controversial Supreme Court hearing, emphasizing that Sher (symbol of the party) was separated from the PML-N during that time. Shehbaz Sharif concluded by stating that if called upon, he would continue to fight for the cause.
