
The Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, has announced a ban on New Year celebrations in Islamabad as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinians.
In a statement, he urged all Pakistanis to abstain from New Year festivities and instead welcome 2024 in support of those affected in Gaza.
Highlighting the plight of Palestinians under Israeli occupation, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s decision to prohibit any form of New Year celebration. This step aims to stand with the oppressed Palestinians amidst the alarming situation in Gaza.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed deep sorrow over the relentless aggression by Israeli forces since October 7, resulting in the loss of over 21,000 innocent lives, including numerous children. Pakistan continues its international advocacy to halt the bloodshed in Gaza, having already dispatched two aid shipments and planning a third.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine, actively voicing concern on global platforms. Efforts are underway to coordinate aid with Egypt and Jordan for timely assistance and the safe evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza, where the situation remains dire.
