Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, is facing a three-count indictment. As reported by the World News Agency, the charges against Hunter Biden include illegal possession of a firearm and making a false statement to deceive law enforcement, both of which carry a potential sentence of 10 years in prison.
The accusations against the US president’s son revolve around his alleged dishonesty when purchasing a firearm five years ago. He is said to have initially concealed his status as a heavy drinker. It’s worth noting that these charges were initially filed by the Justice Department’s special counsel, David Weiss, back in 2018.
Analysts have speculated that a conviction for Hunter Biden, who is 53 years old, could have a negative impact on his father Joe Biden’s chances of re-election. The opposition Republican Party has alleged that efforts may be underway to protect President Joe Biden’s son, although no evidence supporting this claim has been provided.
This is not the first instance where Hunter Biden’s actions could potentially harm his father’s political career. In the past, a woman who claimed to be Hunter’s friend and the mother of his daughter came forward. Lyndon Roberts, a resident of Arkansas, filed a paternity claim against Hunter Biden for her daughter in 2018, which Hunter Biden initially denied. However, DNA testing later confirmed his paternity. In 2021, Hunter Biden admitted to the relationship occurring during a period of struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.
On August 1, President Joe Biden publicly acknowledged the 4-year-old daughter of Hunter Biden and his friend, Navy Joan Roberts, as his granddaughter for the first time. He requested that privacy be respected regarding her situation, stating that “Our son Hunter and my granddaughter’s mother are working together to develop a relationship that is in our daughter’s best interest.”
It’s important to note that Hunter Biden is married and has four children with his wife, Melissa Cohen.
