Supreme Court orders to conduct an inquiry into hiring processes within Sindh Education Department.

The Supreme Court has mandated the Chief Secretary of Sindh to establish an investigative committee concerning 56 appointments made within the Sindh Education Department. The primary objective of this committee is to scrutinize the qualifications of the candidates in question.

In the context of the recruitment matter within the Sindh Education Department, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar of the Supreme Court has issued a comprehensive five-page written verdict. It has been stipulated that the Chief Secretary of Sindh must constitute an inquiry committee within a ten-day timeframe. This committee is to comprise the Additional Secretary of Education, along with the inclusion of the Deputy Secretary of Law.

The Supreme Court has directed the inquiry committee to promptly issue notices to the 56 individuals who applied for these positions. Furthermore, the committee is tasked with a thorough examination of the appointment process of these candidates and must afford them the opportunity for a personal hearing. Appropriate letters must be dispatched to those who were genuinely selected for employment.

In its written decision, the Supreme Court has underscored the need for corrective action against any individuals found to be fraudulently appointed. The inquiry committee is expected to conclude its investigation within a 90-day period. Additionally, the committee has been assigned the responsibility of determining the salaries of the recruited employees who have been serving and addressing any illegal recruitment practices by taking suitable actions against those responsible.

The Supreme Court has emphasized that the responsibility for the wrongful appointments does not rest solely on the beneficiaries of employment. It has stressed that petitioners should be accorded the right to a fair trial in accordance with Article 10A.
