Today, the Supreme Court is set to address the matter concerning an automatic notice prompted by a letter from six judges of the Islamabad High Court.
Scheduled for 11:30 AM, the hearing will be overseen by a seven-member larger bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faiz Isa. Alongside Justice Isa, the bench comprises Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel, Justice Athar Manullah, Justice Musrat Hilali, and Justice Naeem Akhtar.
The initial hearing will witness the presence of the Attorney General, while tomorrow’s session will determine the procedural course for the case. Requests for establishing a judicial commission, composed of Supreme Court judges, to investigate the judges’ letter have also been submitted.
Previously, the federal government had sanctioned the formation of an inquiry commission to delve into the matter, with Justice Retired Tasadeq Hussain Jilani accepting the responsibility of leading the commission.
