Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has refuted claims of Imran Khan’s exclusion from the intra-party elections, asserting that no leader has been designated for the chairman’s position other than Imran Khan. The party has not yet reached a decision regarding his withdrawal.
Dismissing media reports, PTI emphasized that the intra-party elections are being conducted as per the Election Commission’s directives, and no definitive choice has been made about Imran Khan’s candidacy for the chairman’s role in the upcoming elections.
A senior party leader clarified that while the intra-party elections are underway, crucial decisions, including Imran Khan’s participation, are pending and are yet to be finalized. PTI’s spokesperson affirmed that no resolution has been reached regarding withdrawing Imran Khan from the elections or proposing an alternative candidate.
The party assured that once all pivotal matters concerning the intra-party elections, such as the date, procedure, and candidate selection, are concluded, an official announcement will be made.
It’s noteworthy that, following the Election Commission of Pakistan’s directive, PTI has slated the intra-party elections for Saturday, December 2. Earlier speculations suggested Imran Khan’s resignation from the chairman’s post and his non-participation in any position, as well as the possibility of a family member assuming a leadership role within PTI, which PTI has now clarified as unfounded.
