Caretaker Federal Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized that Pakistan is committed to eradicating terrorism and extremism. During his visit to the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NECTA) headquarters, he received a comprehensive briefing from NECTA’s National Coordinator, Muhammad Tahir Rai. The focus was on evaluating the country’s security landscape and the progress of the National Action Plan.
Bugti scrutinized NECTA’s restructuring efforts and urged the organization to devise evidence-based counter-terrorism and counter-extremism strategies. He emphasized the nation’s determination to eliminate terrorism and extremism entirely, aiming for Pakistan to be a beacon of peace. He called upon NECTA to lead other institutions by crafting practical policies and strategies, ensuring the full execution of the National Action Plan. Bugti assured unreserved backing from the Federal Government for law enforcement agencies, providing them with necessary resources and support.
Recognizing the sacrifices made by martyrs, Bugti emphasized the rejection of terrorist narratives. He pledged to halt their dissemination and prevent their promotion in the media. He expressed steadfast confidence in Pakistan’s resilience, asserting that no external force can weaken the nation.
Bugti outlined plans to assist provincial governments and police in eliminating havens for criminals along the Indus River’s raw area. The objective is to establish peace in the region by eradicating criminal elements. He stressed the importance of provincial governments and relevant institutions fully implementing these measures, with his personal monthly review to ensure progress.
